Shades of blues are a definite feature on the shores of the Northern Beaches, with splashes of warmth and richness from the sandy shores or emerald hues reflected from surrounding foreshores. I get inspiration when out in nature, the salty smell from the ocean or the eucalyptus drifting on the breeze. I love the freedom I feel sketching quickly capturing the movement of the water or shadows of light on the rolling ocean. It’s always a journey of discovery from initial studies to the finished piece. Shades of blue and turquoise deliver a calmness to the painting, in contrast to the story of the race that is unfolding before us. It’s light and fun which is what ocean life is all about; this piece sparks memories of adventures shared with family and friends.
